Since the fire is moving at light speed, and the humans are organic, the individuals appear to be moving at a slower speed. It makes perfect sense if you squint your cerebellum.

What is more puzzling to me was when I once saw a motorcycle headed toward a cliff. When it got near, the bike ran out of fuel and the riders bailed. The bike went over the cliff, and burst into a fireball unseen since Dresden.

I love Hollywood. Life would be so mundane without it.
