There is only one truth
Permanent and full
The way all really is
Only one possibility in everything

There are shades of truth,
Nearly there but not quite
Reality known for the most extent
But with small bits missing

So why do we not seek to shine the light
Bright upon the hidden cover
That obscures the full unvarnished truth
From our hearts, eyes, and minds?

Is the work involved just too difficult?
Too upsetting to change our minds
About how we think the world works
About the why we are here?

So we would rather follow lies
Than do a bit of digging
The demons in the shadows
Blame them instead of me!

Lies abound political
A twist on old opinions
To push us away from what is best
Towards the liar’s profits

There are many masters of lies
But not many tellers of truth
So our world is sorely destined
To be an always lie-filled place

Can I fight myself to understand
When the truth confronts me?
Or will I bend the line
To the outcome that I wish

So many lies…
