The crew on my ship, the USS Sampson, DDG10, was prepared to instantly respond to shipboard fires, Couldn't call 911 or the fire department. Every sailor learned in boot camp to put out fires on board. We never had one while I was on board, but we had frequent drills.

I'm not at all surprised that the crew of the Ford was able to get this fire under control.
