... but I wouldn't be so sure about that "most of the nation" bit. The stats that get thrown around are highly suspect.

I'm still grappling with the idea that I've heard espoused in the mass media lately that the vast majority of the country wants more gun control but can't get it because Congress is in the thrall of the NRA. Huh? The NRA's clout derives from being able to deliver electoral victories to their favorites, both through voter mobilization and through campaign contributions. If the "vast majority" are against them, how do they manage to deliver these victories? A lot of people must be polling one way and voting another.
