5. Oak Lawn is pretty much middle/working class

They got hit really hard with the Cook County 63% property tax increase this year and the 68% state income tax increase a few years back.

The loss of a lot of the manufacturing jobs to Wisconsin and Indiana has driven a lot of them and others to move out of state. We've lost one House seat in the last 4 census and we'll lose another one next round too.

Over 225,000 people have left the state in the past couple of years.

There's a good reason none of the candidates are being seen hugging Rahm or Mike Madigan on the podium, even with the Illinois primary next Tuesday. He's toxic, especially with the AA community, after he sat on the Laquan McDonald tape for his re-election.

BTW, the article was about several Cook County communities, not just Oak Lawn, including some that are over 90% AA.
