to a day afterward. Storms blow across the lakes to western NY.

The thunder was not directly over us, but close enough to be pretty loud. The lightning was impressive since the storms came after dark. Iit up the entire sky as if it were day time.

We had about 4 waves. Rain in the first two was heavy but not too bad. The 3rd wave brought hard, torrential rain. I live at a busy city intersection so I use the traffic light movement to gauge the strength of the wind. Also, across the street from me there is a row of tall, narrow hemlocks bordering the neighboring yard there. I check out the movement of the treetops.

But I could not see them through the heavy rain. I'm guessing that the wind was around 45 mph. Not all that bad. No visible damage this morning when I went out for a medical appointment.
