I'm learning that Carys' reaction to thunderstorms is like my reaction to earthquakes [View all]

An earthquake sends me into an 'altered state' for a good 24 hours, or so. I just feel jumpy and completely off balance and out of sorts.

Carys seems to react to thunderstorms in the same way. The storms were Friday night. All day Saturday she was pretty close to how she was when I first brought her inside. Normally when I approach her, she meows and runs up to rub against my ankles and does rollies across my feet. I can pick her up and give her some snuggles and kisses. Yesterday, every time I'd approach her she'd run. Even at meal time she kept her distance unless I left the kitchen. I finally put her food bowl in the den.

Today she is back to her usual behavior and couldn't be sweeter.

And it wasn't even a bad or long storm. At least I know what to expect.
