Since its founding in 2006, nonprofit rescue group Chesapeake Cats and Dogs has helped more than 2,000 cats and dogs from Queen Anne’s, Anne Arundel, Talbot and Caroline counties find new homes.

And now, one wolf.

But volunteers didn’t know they had a wolf (or possibly a hybrid wolf dog) on their hands until they posted a photo of 8-month-old Anubis on Facebook. They asked if anyone wanted to adopt a “shy and skittish” Alaskan malamute/German shepherd mix.

To which several astute Facebook commenters responded, “That is not a dog, that’s a wolf.”
