My mother and I got into a huge argument years ago. [View all]

She asked me if I had an escape route in case of fire. I was living in a small, one bedroom apartment with one door and two windows at the time. Not a lot of ways to get out; I don't think I would need a plan. I told her I would leave after I grabbed my cat, Boots, and she hit the roof. "You don't go after the cat; you just get out!" Yeah, like I'm going to leave Boots behind to die in a fire. We went about 10 rounds on that one and I stand by my position to this day.

Actually, I was kind of surprised by her attitude because when I first adopted Boots, my mother promised to take her if anything ever happened to me, plus I know for a fact she loved Boots. She must have temporarily lost her mind that day.
