(132,892 posts)42. Please continue to give her time and space. The fact that she is coming out at all,
however briefly, is a very good sign. Talk to her as you go about your day, carry on normally. Given the situation from which you rescued her, think about her behaviour as you would any kind of shock. Keep reassuring her that she is safe, not going anywhere. I don't think it will be all that long now.

My cat did that when I first brought him home, I panicked because I couldn't find him!

She was in a very crowded and noisy shelter, so having all this new space to explore must seem very strange.

She went off to explore the house again, and now she's come back to be with us.
