(17,606 posts)As she realizes she is safe, she will unwind. When you see her in her first absolutely peaceful and deep sleep, you will understand what I'm talking about. It's not a cat nap. It's an "I'm safe and I'm finally home and I can relax and rest" kind of sleep.
Were they able to tell you anything about her history? You don't have to share that here. But if she's six years old, she's had a history obviously.
Again, I cannot stress enough how grateful I am that you adopted. We have a HORRIBLE overpopulation issue in Texas. Cats can be TNR'd ("Trap, Neutered and Returned"
, at least, which is better than being euthanized. Dogs cannot be. I see SO MANY idiots who don't have a pot to piss in that are posting somewhere that they want to buy a dog or cat from a breeder when so many at the shelters and rescues have no homes. So for the people who adopt, I wish them only good things. Thank you for being responsible and kind. May you and your new family member have many happy years together.
