2. I've been asked to try it out and research growing in straw bales...

in the driveway, going to do tomatoes, peppers and eggplant...and in the big garden, squash, melons and cukes in addition to some tomatoes. It's going to be fun (I've been doing the recommended prep, measuring temperatures, real Mr Wizard stuff - my garden is my laboratory!)
