My Incredible Garden Find [View all]

I have been wanting a garden trellis/screen for a long time. I looked up the prices a few years ago and had to discard the idea. Just not enough $$ in the coffers.

In the last 48 hours, I have been on a luck binge. One good thing after another has happened to me.

I was driving home from taking my spouse to the airport. I found a beautiful metal standing trellis set out by the side of the road. It is 7’ tall and is quite ornate. Someone was throwing it out. It was in very good condition.

I went home and got my station wagon and returned: it was still there. I put it in my wagon and took it home. I was happy about my find, but thought I would have to paint it. As soon as I put it in place, I could see the color was perfect for the garden spot I had chosen. The piece looks stunning! I am so incredibly happy to have it.

Later I found I only got the screens by one minute! But first, here are pics:

One reason I wanted the screen was to block out this garden shed for my neighbor.

So how did I find out that I only got the screens by one minute?

Late in the afternoon, my neighbor was outside. He commented about my getting the screens. He had been out in his sportscar (two-seater) and spotted them. He, too, raced home to get a vehicle into which he could load them.

When he came back, he saw me loading them into my station wagon, LOL. He said he waited by the side of the road because he was convinced I would not be able to get them in my wagon and he could then get them! We shared a good laugh over that!

Anyway, it's interesting that I got them because I wanted to make his view better, so it was a win-win.
