I am in something of the same boat as you, I can get to the 1860's here and then it's off to Ireland. I have a bit of information, but haven't followed up on it as of yet. I think using every source possible is probably the best advice to be given. If you do find a good link or source be sure to post it here as I am sure many would be thankful.
