AS a cat lover, may I suggest that the spirits of both your son and his/your cat, would likely think it was a fine thing if you offered your loving heart and home to a kitty or two who needs someone.

41 year ago this month, while I was stationed in Japan with the Air Force nurse corps, my brother, my only sibling, died in a scuba diving adventure gone wrong. I had only been in Japan a short time, so didn’t have much of a support network thousands of miles from home.

Not to long after that, one of my neighbors in the BOQ (bachelor officers’ quarters) found a kitten. I fell for him immediately, and it was a healing thing to come home to a little critter who needed me and was happy to see me.

I brought that cat back to the States with me. I had him for 20 years. It was tough when he crossed the Rainbow Bridge, but it was worth having had him all that time.
