I found a cousin who is a direct descendant on my dad's side a few years ago. Dad was an only child and was not close to his family. About 9 months before he died in 2009, I found many old family photos of my gr. grandparents on an online photo hosting site. Since dad only had one paternal aunt, I knew the person posting them was related. I exchanged a few informative emails with this cousin, and she sent me copies of a few photos I'd never seen before of my grandfather when he was young. She even emailed my father. Then.....nothing. I tried and tried to get her to respond, but it was like she dropped off the face of the earth. She holds ALL of the family photos now

I've been just sick about this, as I thought she was sincere about maintaining a connection. I was even planning a trip to Spokane to meet her.

Here's hoping you have better luck than I did.
