born in 53 i was part of the generation who benefited from the vaccine

i remember the whole damn school came to a screaming halt on polio vaccine day.
Nurses, sugar cubes, very grim teachers.

I DO know that the only childhood nightmare that i remember to this day involved iron lungs...scared the shit out of this kid.
