If the stock is yours and you have enough to cover the procedure plus any tax liability I’d say ultimately the decision is yours to do it now or try the splints for 9 months and if doesn’t work go for the procedure or if you didn’t hear the same thing your SO did, I’d call the DR and confirm that his recommendation was to first wear the splints. It would be wonderful if your SO was able to provide more emotional support but it sounds like that is something he can’t or won’t do.
