Aftermath of Lewiston [View all]

It’s been an awful few days here in Maine. People say Maine is a small town. Lewiston was so personal for a lot of us. I don’t live very far from there and it’s a place I go to often. The tragedy has touched us in a million ways.
It caught up to me tonight. I ended up in the ER with chest pains. Thank god, the universe or whatever gets you through, it wasn’t. Overwhelming stress and sadness got to me.
We are all hurting and grappling with the enormity of violence in our community. Sandy Hook, Uvalde, Las Vegas, even as far back as Columbine brought the horror to our doors. But it all hit home tonight. Having it happen in my own backyard made it real personal. I pray that you be spared from such sorrow.
Please keep a good thought for me and my fellow Mainers. We will pull through.
