...after she developed bone cancer, I can say there just isn't any dedicated support system for the caregivers, other some possible government money normal people have to jump through too many hoops for.

You sadly have to create your own support system through the friends and acquaintances you make. That being said, I made some lifelong friends out of the ordeal, so there's some lasting benefits from doing it.
