Diabetes Advocates Protest at Eli Lilly About Insulin Prices [View all]

On Saturday, September 9th, 2017 a group of diabetes patient advocates organized by T1International and People of Faith for Access to Medicines (PFAM) showed up in front of Eli Lilly’s Headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana to protest rising insulin prices.

Eli Lilly is one of the three top insulin manufacturers. The company markets Basaglar, Glucagon, Humalog, and other diabetes products. They are currently being sued in class action suit along with the other insulin makers, Sanofi and Novo Nordisk.

T1International, an advocacy group who launched the initiative #insulin4all wrote on their blog that this protest was about those living with diabetes speaking up against the prices that ensure their survival. They want transparency about the costs associated with making insulin and the profits they make. They also want them to “commit to stopping the immoral act of price gouging people who depend on this medicine for survival.”
