And not only check the bill and question charges, but be aware that medical debt is negotiable. You don't have to pay the sticker price. There is an excellent book on Amazon titled "Crush Medical Debt" by Virgie Bright Ellington MD that addresses this process. It's the best sixteen dollars that I ever spent.
