Girls' voices retain the "treble" sound for a longer time than boys' voices do, before changing into a more womanly tone. In fact, girls can be trained to sing at that level until they are 16 or even older in some cases, whereas most boys' voices start to change around 12 or 13. Thus, girls are more "useful" musically, despite what all those stiff-backed old choirmasters would like you to believe!
