But setting that piece aside, Putin is not young. He will probably be dead in a few years one way or another. His whole ascent has been for the single-minded purpose of re-assembling the USSR. He cannot stop in Ukraine without giving up that grand plan, which he will not do.

Bottom line: he must be defeated militarily in a decisive way, and then the Russian people can do what they will with him. If we had a President looking out for American interests, we wouls be helping Europe to make this happen, and then have a plan for helping bring Russia into the First World as a respoposible party.
