regarding looking inward and asking "why Americans harm themselves with drugs" is because our society in general doesn't send enough messages of support or caring for the American People.

Why do we do not have universal health care like every other advanced nation on Earth, why do we make our people go heavily into debt to better their prospects with a higher education?

Why did we have more people in prison than any other nation on Earth even before the *rump administration waged their war against our Constitution and the American peoples' freedom. Why do have industries that profit from imprisoning those people?

It may sound corny but there's just not enough love reflected from our culture or government to insulate the people, thus making the people ever more vulnerable to seeking means of escape by deadening the pain or seeking temporary pleasure whether it be drugs, alcohol or some other potential addiction. Our society is too mercenary and that mindset especially over the long term leaves ever increasing numbers of people behind.

I believe that's one reason as to why out mortality and addiction rate is approximately 400% higher than more enlightened nations such as Norway or Sweden

I'm thinking maybe having the Nobel Peace Prize as an institution based in that region since the beginning of the 20th century had beneficial subliminal effects on their societies' development.

Thanks for the thread littlemissmartypants
