1. India and China are clearly just transactional with Russia. They have somewhat different goals but both like cheap oil

China has no love for Russia but likes using a relationship with it to keep the US and EU off balance. It won't go to war for Russia and it won't bail Russian out economically beyond whatever benefit Russia derives from oil revenue. India is a bit of a different case as broad tech, military and economic bonds with Russia has some advantages for India beyond just cheap oil but also they won't be supporting any direct Russian military action either and they couldn't meaningfully do anything more to help Russia militarily or economically. Modi would like good relations with India to be a prize available to one and all and enjoys being courted regularly for that.
