Look what that got them. Although I don't think Russia would ever really use nukes in Europe. Those were always more of a threat against the United States. The Russians said they would nuke Western Europe if they were driven out. They didn't. The Russians said they would nuke Afghanistan (where they used chemical weapons) if they lost. They didn't. They said they would nuke Chechnya. They didn't. The Russians know that a nuclear event right in their area would affect them too and the people would rise up more than they are already.
