I hate the idea of policing anyone else's food. When people start making declarations about how people should be able to use SNAP benefits (like forbidding them to buy anything with sugar in it), I get very cranky. The government needs to stay the hell out of people's personal business.

Telling people what they're allowed to eat is like telling women they have to stay pregnant whether they want to or not, or taking away the choice of trans people to access gender affirming care (which some states have already done): a massive government overreach into people's personal decisions.

If people need assistance with paying for food, just give it to them, and then mind your own damned business.
