I read the whole report and explored the interactive map.
They’ve got the receipts, and they are horrific.
Gobsmacked, I am.
A real eye-opener.

Sunset on September 15 will bring my New Year, 5784, Rosh Hashana.
It’s a time for reflection, for asking forgiveness of and giving forgiveness to people in our lives, and making plans to repair our world, at least our little part of it, in the new year.

This report leads me to broaden my repair plan, which is primarily concerned with repairing this hot mess we’ve made of our blue planet before it’s too late.

Improving wages, worker protections, and right to organize for all working Americans, especially women, could go a long way to repair our world. If the 1% and corporate citizens United pay their fair share of taxes before paying their shareholders, buying back stock, and rewarding the top cats with exorbitant salaries, perks, and bonuses, they’d probably still be able to pay employees a living wage with healthcare and other benefits, like continuing education and leave and a decent work/life balance. A real possibility for life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness a new old American Dream.

Oy! I’m going to sleep on this and lift it up and find my way forward. I’ll post in North Carolina group as my thoughts come together. Any interested North Carolina folks, especially, I would love to do some brainstorming and pondering with fellow travelers.

Thank you, DBoon for this challenging information about work in America.
Sparked a little light right in my core, it did. Didn’t see it coming, but it lit me up. Let it shine.
That’s a start.
