5. I haven't had any luck with virtual box yet

mind you it was back in the 10.04 days when I tried it. I don't know what I did wrong but I never could get it to work for me.
One of these rainy days I'll have to give it a try again. I like trying new OS and it would be perfect for that.
But, theres that but again, now that I have a good functioning new version of Ubuntu with what for all intents and purposed that uses gnome2 I'm pretty happy with what I have so I probably won't be trying different OS quiet so often now.
I'm been pretty lucky putting whatever OS I want to try on a thumb drive and running it from there. Last black friday I purchased a sandisk 32 gig for 7 bucks at radio shack and so far I've installed at least a dozen different versions on it and it just keeps on coming back for more, so far that is.
