Not sure where the message appeared in this case, but you should always be very wary of any warning that's originating in your browser.

Software that's natively installed on your computer (like anti-virus stuff) will alert you either by a popup from the the operating system (in which case there should be an icon for it in your taskbar) and/or in your notifications list (bottom far right button on taskbar in Windows 10), and NOT within the browser window. ALWAYS be leery of any kind of 'alert' within the browser itself.

Phones I don't know nearly as well ... but android and apple software tends to be more secure generally.
