I do hope you plan on counting abortion as one of those kitchen table issues (see what I mean, about hating the analogy! lol)
That one issue drew more voters out to the polls than just about ANY issue in recent history in this red state. And we democrats (and the republican women who wanted to keep abortion available beat the millions of dollars pumped into the campaigns by the RNCC and the Catholic church). Forgetting this, and pushing it back into the background (once again) in favor of the usual "kitchen table issues" will lose us elections.... and end up losing women even more rights.
Promote the old kitchen table issues? Sure! But dang, we have a cornucopia of issues we can hit this time around, if only we actually do it! I'm definitely -not- saying throw away the old... but I AM saying don't wrap yourself in what worked before in the old "normal" and expect it alone to work in today's "normal." That's the mild-mannered Democratic way of thought.
Not even counting trump... look at what the repugs have given us over the last few days...
Ramaswami or whatever his name is, wants to deny young people the right to vote... unless they fulfil some sort of Star Troopers citizenship program.
You still have repugs trying to kill abortion in several states and coming up against massive demonstrations of the populace against it.
You have repugs changing the law on bringing citizen proposals to the ballots to be voted on. Repugs don't like that. They HATE direct democracy of any kind.
You have governors changing the divorce laws without any input from the populace. People don't like that, either.
You have a huge number of items that can be drawn from the SCOTUS and any number of proposals for "fixing" it after the next election.
And that's not even touching guns, birth control, the EPA, or Climate Change.
Most of this stuff is drawn from what we're living as our new "normal"... the "New" kitchen table issues... although I prefer to call it dystopia.
