Is US Representative Dean Phillips of MN-3 going to run for statewide office in the near future? [View all]

Dean Phillips won all 3 of his US House races in MN-3 by a double digit/landslide margin.
He won in 2018 and 2020 by a 11 percent margin. In 2018 and 2020, MN-3 was a D+1 district.
He won in 2022 by a 19 percent margin. In 2022, MN-3 was a D+8 district.
Phillips is a moderate Democrat and is wealthy. Dean Phillips should run for Governor in 2026 due to the fact Tim Walz unlikely to seek re-election to a 3rd term. If Dean Phillips runs for Governor of MN in 2026, He should select his fellow MN US House Member Ilhan Omar as his Lt Gubernatorial runningmate. Phillips is popular in the Twin Cities Suburbs and he will energize turnout in the inner cities of Minneapolis and St Paul. Picking Omar as Lt Governor can help Phillips in the primary against Keith Ellison.
