Liberal Judge Pedro Coln enters 2027 Wisconsin Supreme Court race [View all]

State Appeals Judge Pedro Colón has entered the 2027 race for Wisconsin Supreme Court, becoming the second liberal candidate to launch a campaign for the court this month.

The announcements come in the same month that liberals won a 20-point victory in this year’s Wisconsin Supreme Court race, securing a 5-2 majority until at least 2030.

Colón was a Democratic member of the Wisconsin Assembly from 1999 until 2010 when he was appointed as a Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge by former Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle. He won reelection to that court until June 2023, when Democratic Gov. Tony Evers appointed him to Wisconsin’s District 1 Court of Appeals, where he serves as the Milwaukee-based court’s presiding judge.

In a statement announcing his candidacy, Colón vowed that his campaign would bring decades of legal experience and his “unique life experience” to the Supreme Court.
