1. Two things the Republicans didn't consider...

1. It is inevitable that these measures will be thrown out in court...even a Republican-controlled court

2. With the populist backlash that they will surely enable with this reckless move, there is a chance that even with the gerrymandering in place, the Democrats could take control of BOTH HOUSES IN 2020....How are the Republicans going to like being on the short end of the very stick they are creating?

Additional thoughts>>>>

The Republicans are acting like "there is no tomorrow"...it's all for short term, immediate gratification

Their dream of a permanent Republican majority doesn't account for factions WITHIN the Republican Party

They have cast their lot with Trump...the revenge of the voters will sweep every last one of them from office when Trump's administration implodes.
