Bellevue weighs paid street parking in some neighborhoods [View all]

Bellevue leaders are exploring a new paid street parking system intended to better manage demand for the limited parking supply in the Eastside city’s busiest neighborhoods.

The city’s proposed curb pricing program, if approved, would create a framework for setting and adjusting parking rates and hours of operation for curb parking and would establish rules for paid parking. The ordinance would also create defined paid-parking zones.

Bellevue’s transportation department recently completed a curb pricing study that explored the possible implementation of paid on-street parking, also known as curb pricing, in the urban core areas of Bellevue, including in parts of the downtown, Wilburton and Bel-Red neighborhoods.

The City Council will need to approve an ordinance to amend city code before the planned changes would begin.
