WASHINGTON Pennsylvania lawmakers and political experts predictably divided along party lines following Thursdays felony conviction of former President Donald Trump, who is running neck-and-neck with President Joe Biden in the Keystone State.
After a New York jury on Thursday found Mr. Trump guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records tied to hush money payments made to an adult film star during the 2016 campaign, Pennsylvania Republicans quickly echoed Mr. Trumps long-running accusations of corruption against the Biden administration, which had nothing to do with the case.
Instead, the charges were brought by the elected district attorney for the New York City borough of Manhattan, Alvin Bragg, not the U.S. Justice Department. But that didnt stop U.S. Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, R-Peters, the House deputy whip and a longtime Trump supporter, from blaming Mr. Biden.
Mr. Reschenthaler called the trial the worst abuse of power in American history on X. Joe Biden and Alvin Bragg weaponized our judicial system, turning our nation into a banana republic filled with kangaroo courts designed to target their political rivals. Pray for our nation and President Trump.
