I haven't been following this whole episode that closely. What was the judge's rationale for releasing the divorce records? I thought the whole purpose of putting things under seal was to prevent fishing expeditions like this one. It's not like the information in the divorce was relevant to some other criminal proceeding.

The only person hurt by this decision was Ellison's ex-wife, who is a private citizen and did not deserve having her personal issues made public. If this was some sort of whimsical decision made by the judge without some sort of legal precedence or statutory obligation, he or she needs to be voted out. If there is a possibility of partisan motivations, they need to be thoroughly investigated to determine if they were bribed or if their conduct deserves disbarment.
