I spent hours and hours sledding. Our longest community sledding run ended at a cow pasture fenced in with barbed wire. It was a rite of passage to have a section of your head shaved so that stitches could be applied after you hit the barbed wire fence. Stitches were for newbies, scars set apart the veterans.
