Federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour - been at this rate since 2009. That's just over $15K a year, $1,256 per month. How do you afford a one bedroom apartment on minimum wage? You don't.

Colorado min wage is $8.31 an hour, a huge increase to just over $17K a year.
