I was curious about why we so often respond to thank-you with those two words in particular and found one person's reasoning.

"You're welcome is something I learned to say when I was coming out of codependency. I started to accept compliments and praise and help without trying to brush it off.

You're welcome helped me to just be in that moment without going into negative overdrive. I still use you're welcome and you're very welcome and I really mean it
when I say this and usually I smile when I say this or when writing this on messages.

I feel happy when I say you're welcome and even happier when I say you're very welcome."
