Dave Davies was all of 17 years old in 1964 when he slit a speaker to produce the heavy distorted sound and also shredded a guitar solo in the middle of the track.

You Really Got Me influenced and inspired a lot of rock'n'roll that followed. In my book The Kinks are right up there with the Beatles, Stones, and Who. Ray Davies is among the greatest song writers of the era.
