One more Country Joe & The Fish, but it's a good one live. [View all]

CJ & The Fish played the Monterrey Pop festival in 1967, two years before Woodstock put them on the map. "Electric Music For The Mind and the Body" didn't even have that protest song, though they did perform live it here. At the time they were playing to an audience who knew the difference between Sunshine, Windowpane, and Blotter.

"Sweet Loraine" was a great hippie song of the era and this video proves they were musicians instead of the novelty act many saw. "It's a shame and a pity you were raised up in the city and you never learned nothin' about country ways".

Great audio here. They were obviously plugged into the sound board. See if you can spot who I believe is Mama Cass in the audience.

This is what they mean when someone speaks of The 'Frisco Sound".
