(33,279 posts)Worth honoring Turner for the foresight and preservation efforts that lead to the establishment of Turner Classic Movies, perhaps the finest cable channel ever created.
TCM, champion of film arts -- courageous, inventive, educational, and commercial-free. Everything from blockbusters, B-films, and low-budget independent efforts, to shorts, silent and foreign films. Not always without controversy. Remember "colorization?" Yikes.

TCM debuted on April 14, 1994, at 6 p.m. Eastern Time, over 32 years ago. Gone with the Wind (1939) was the first film broadcast.
