I grew up in Brooklyn
I earned an academic scholarship to Cornell University, starting out as an engineering major but later switching to English.
While at Princeton, I became good friends with Thomas Pynchon and Peter Yarrow.
After returning to Manhattan, I often hung out at the White Horse Tavern in Greenwich Village, where I met a successful folksinger named Carolyn.
18 days later, Carolyn and I got married.
I was present when my wife recorded her 3rd album at Columbia Studios in September 1961, where a then-little-known Bob Dylan played the harmonica on several tracks.
Dylan and I became best friends.
I played guitar, sang, and wrote songs.
Like Dylan, I was considered a "protest singer."
I wrote a novel.
