2. Windows kill a lot of birds

Just because they fly off that does not mean they are OK.

Birds see the world differently than we do — it’s part of what makes them extraordinary flyers and navigators capable of migrating thousands of miles in the dark. But they aren’t equipped to handle the maze of reflective windows in multi-story buildings in our cities. Nor can they see the crystal clear glass used in homes, schools, stores, and other buildings. And although these structures are shorter, they pose the same threat to birds as the skyscrapers downtown. More than 1 billion birds die from collisions with glass every year in the U.S. alone. It’s a problem of a staggering scale, but it’s one we can solve together.
