I had to look.

What I see is a lot of iron stain on the quartz which tells me it's probably iron pyrite. If it was gold, the quartz would normally be white or clear or a combo but not likely stained by iron as this specimen appears to be.

Amateur rock hound here and that's what it looks like to me.
