2. My family owns a gold mine in Arizona

and the main deposits of gold is locked up in quartz in the veins. Th mine has existed for at least 145 years and possibly back as far as old Spanish prospectors, This is much different than Placer gold that the "Gold Rush" TV show ( Yukon, Alaska, etc ) show where everything is about digging up old river beds... basically earth moving with heavy equipment... scooping up tons of gold bearing earth and sending it through enormous wash plants. Gold in quartz is usually underground and hard rock mining, rock crushing, and finally washing.

Be careful that what you are seeing is actually gold, there are many iron pyrites that look like gold but, in fact, are "fool's gold". Proper assay is required to prove out any find. And, finally, no... I've never seen a rock like the one shown... not even close. Not saying it isn't possible, just it would be very rare.
