My uncle was VP of Films at Disney until 1977. He always landed on his feet. He spent WWII as the photographer assigned to Eleanor Roosevelt, and criticized her constantly.
At Disney, Walt and Roy discovered early on that my uncle had a flair for handling layoffs. Some years ago there was a blog by ex Disney employees. They spoke of my uncle, and one employee remembered his famous ‘week before Christmas’ layoffs. He said that uncle told him “You didn’t buy into all that ‘family’ shit, did you? Fuck, I’m trying to run a business here.’ My uncle claims that flubber was all his idea.
