7. The Dutch make a lot of licorice candies -- mostly hard candies, though.

Since they used to control parts of the East Indies (where licorice grows) they consider it kind of a part of their national heritage, it seems. If you ever see *gourmet* licorice, it's probably from the Dutch (or at least Dutch-owned companies).
